Every Thursday from May through July, our rooftop terrace will become a space in which a program of activities that mix the corporeal and the sonorous with the educational and participative will unfold.
UNDER THE CURATORSHIP OF JOSÉ SALAS AND JOSÉ LUIS VILLALOBOS
One of the ideals imposed by modernity is the idea of the future as a hyper-technological, homogeneous and universal concept, in which a perfected society could live a pleasant existence in a world replete with peace and progress. This objective that we have never managed to reach does not serve as an anchor for our intentions, but rather a springboard for this project. We have endeavoured to distort this image of the future according to a scientific mannual by inviting a series of artists and groups that defend the imperfection of this future as something to be celebrated rather than lamented. By reformulating the concepts of the past, retrieving rituals and forms that reject an aseptic future and a focus on the primitive, the pre-technological and the sensitive. Yet without neglecting what the present has to offer us… These tribes of new creators face up to an over-stimulated society, sometimes through sarcasm and humour using play, others with a melancholic undertone, but always with the decisive innovation of a future that is no longer what it used to be, in what appears to be an assumption and naturalisation of some dystopias. Here and now then, let us commemorate our imperfect future...
PICNIC SESSIONS PROGRAM 2010:
One of the cornerstones of the Stereolab identity, one of the post-rock groups of reference since the beginning of the 90's, has always been the voice and lyrics (French-English) of Laetitia Sadier, who apart from developing other parallel projects (Monade), has also worked with numerous other artists of all shapes and sizes: Mouse on Mars, Atlas Sound, High Llamas... Pop in block capitals, but with a unique identity, retrofuturism.
Hamper for a Picnic: ESPADA AND MONLEÓN
THE RUIN AFTER THE BANQUET -A GASTROLOGICAL EVENT-
Group mnemophagy ritual in which you will journey through a banquet of imaginary landscapes and be surrounded by taste phantoms. Temples erected to desire and monuments to the digestive enigma.
Espada and Monleón will challenge you to overcome your senses and devour even the ruin of a golden, edible future.
Super 8 Film Session: STANLEY SUNDAY AKA DAVIDSON AKA DAVID DOMINGO
NAVAJAZO. A SÚPER 8 ODISSEY [SLASH: A SUPER 8 ODYSSEY]
A brilliant screening of Super 8 films ground out by Stanley Sunday. The knife throwers from The Warriors (Walter Hill, 1979) will face off against Luke Skywalker on the silver screen. Hawaiian volcanoes, medieval tournaments, fistfights… all those things you like and always wanted to see in Super 8. As an added bonus, Stanley Sunday is in negotiations to acquire a 16-mm copy of Days of Thunder in order to take it apart and present it to the audience in tatters.
Canadian artist Dan Bodan studied photography in Montreal and developed Noot as a musical project inspired by the sound coordinates (noise and experimental) of a city he left for Europe in 2007. This crooner’s style is a blend of techno-pop, kitsch minimalism and psychedelic soul.
The songs composed by Ducktails belong to Matthew Mondaline, born sometime in the mid-1980s in New Jersey. Like a warm breeze, these songs induce a sweet drowsiness that transports us to the past on the wings of psychedelia... Pure Hypnagogic Pop. This is also part of the Predator Vision and Real Estate projects.
Concert: DOLPHINS INTO THE FUTURE
Dolphins Into The Future is an ongoing dialogue with the Cetacean Nation
“Using information from the ‘New Age’ genre and incorporating fourth-world musical structures, concrete music and rain and wave patterns, I tell a story based on the knowledge of explorers: the treasures of thinkers like John C. Lilly, Franklin Merell-Wolff, H.P. Blavatsky and Joan Ocean… the path I follow. The path of Love and Light, of the Maker of Stars. I am He, who projects his spirit. Far from Earth and from the world’s delirium… in the Universe, to find other worlds, other beings, other kinds of beings, and to ultimately come face-to-face with the Creator of the Universe.”
Musical Menu: HTM
Presentation of the second issue of the HTM Fanzine, with a new format and thematic contributions on the relativity of the future and the recovery of old values of community and exchange.
The presentation will take the form of a MUSICAL MENU: appetisers, first and second course and dessert, concocted with short melodies of tap-dance, guitars, drum boxes and keyboards guaranteed to satisfy anyone’s summer hunger.
Conducciones [Conductings] is a project created by Christian Fernández Mirón, a night of free musical improvisation directed by the audience’s gestures.
The action consists of two parts. In the first, the audience listens, and in the second, the orchestra members show the audience how to conduct them using basic gestures. After watching a few musically illustrated examples, the audience uses what they have learned and takes control. Anyone in the audience can stand before the orchestra and conduct a musical piece. The outcome is guaranteed to be unpredictable and hilarious.
Concert: THE NOTES
From Southampton/London, a trio that has been compared to the revelation of the moment, The XX, thanks to a fiery mix of post-punk, shoegazer sound, rhythm box and female vocals... with influences that range from Virginia Woolf to The Fall or Joy Division, they offer us another future of narcotic imperfection in which the past is strongly present in a thousand different ways.
Picnic forzoso: SÉCOLECTIVOFORZOSO
The artistic group sécolectivoforzoso has put together a session based on the numerous visions of the imminent end, within the broad range of catastrophic theories about our future and the constant reminder that any past era was better. The group proposes a visionary evening-night in which humour leads us to reflect on our own understanding of history, art and our essentially tragic nature.
Picnic Conference: ÁNGELES OLIVA AND TOÑA MEDINA
CABEN TODOS LOS RUIDOS (THERE'S ROOM FOR ALL NOISES) - RADIOPERFORMANCE
CABEN TODOS LOS RUIDOS (THERE'S ROOM FOR ALL NOISES) is a dramatic work that shows the depths of the radio. Eight microphones gather the narrated fictions with a Tetra Brik, a doll or a cluster of balloons and, always, a voice. It is a tribute to the noise-makers and their work in the shade, a show that brings the intimacy and warmth of the radio close to the spectator with a contemporary look.
“Fear in heels and hidden behind a moustache. Fear by the spoonful in country tales. The fear in your body when you reach the doorway, you're a woman and you are scared from birth. The body trained to cause fear, to hide fear. Courage, man, courage, without any peanuts or crap like that. Over 2000 cameras watch out for my safety, and I am still afraid. It's not even funny.
Bah, it's just a scratch.”
Presentation: CASETE, MON AMOUR
Each cassette you make is unique and at the same time, infinitely repeatible. It is re-usable, it is recorded over and over again in step with life. It ages too. The wrinkles of the tape sound like wear and tear, like pressing rec where you shouldn't, like weary batteries, like sounds that have not quite been erased. This is why, this casette is full of gratitude for its constancy and loyalty. We love you, cassette.
Gift of the cassette to all participants.

Musical celebration of self-publishing: AUTOPLACER
Sindicalistas is a collective dedicated to promoting music projects based on self-publishing and self-management. On this occasion, they have joined forces with the fanzine collective Jerseys para los monos to organise their second Autoplacer [Self-Pleasure] party, featuring concerts by four up-and-coming bands and providing a forum for sharing, displaying and selling self-published fanzines, demos and albums.
Today, technology is advancing at a terrifying pace, and one of the consequences is that nobodies like this guy can record whole albums in their own homes and brazenly offer them to respectable, law-abiding citizens on the web. Accompanied by a raucous drum machine, an acoustic guitar and a moustachioed bassist, Anntona has released En la cama con Anntona, an incredibly fresh pop project pieced together with second-rate rhymes and more than first-rate melodies.
Asano Historical Society
Talking about Asano is tantamount to talking about the original “dynamic duo” (Batman and Robin). The champions of a higher justice, they are agents seeking cultural compensation for the artists and musicians who have been unjustly chewed up and spat out by western culture. Together they are an anomaly, a persistence, like insects trapped in translucent resin. A journey to the past, present and future of the rock ’n' roll gutter. These guys are well-heeled.
The Shellac Family
The Shellac Family, whose members are united by their shared musical and ancestral roots, comes straight from the Bible Belt to offer us a few traditional tunes from the Shellac songbook. Their repertoire shows us just how rugged country music sounded before cowboy hats became popular, using the incredible odds and ends that make up the world of household items.
Experimental Little Monkey
Experimental Little Monkey emerged as a self-produced, virtual and personal experimental pop project which sought online collaborations from Taiwan for the album Strange Dumpling Cheeks. Following an invitation from Sindicalistas to participate in the Autoplacer [Self-Pleasure] festival, Experimental Little Monkey decided to put together a group of musicians to add a bizarre instrumental twist to its original tracks.
Jerseys pàra los monos
Jerseys para los Monos is a small publishing house and distributor of books, fanzines and other great little things made by hand and by heart. This collective believes that creativity resides primarily in each person’s inner self and should be explored for personal enrichment, and it is therefore an unconditional supporter of DIY and self-publishing.
Sindicalistas (DJ Set)
Their thing is playing sets in musical trenches. From protest-minimal songs to electro-C.N.T and sub-genres such as syndicalist-pop-noise—glam-amnesty, ideological-beat and post-rock-libertarian, plus a wide variety of tracks by self-published bands, these DJs manage to shake your booty as well as your awareness and your conscience (in their multiple facets).
Pasacalles-convoy: FAST GALLERY N. 5
BANNERS, STANDARDS AND PENNON
FAST GALLERY invites you to create your own banner, standard or pennon and to go out onto the street to raise these symbols or emblems, whether individual or representing a group, in a unique mobile exhibition in the style of a battalion or troupe of emerging art, in which anything might happen.
Itinerary: from Plaza de Pradillo in Móstoles to the rooftop terrace of CA2M.
Dj set arqueológico: HERMANOS PIZARRO
Rather than a radiophonic program, Melodías Pizarras is a sound archeology and public usefulness project that aims to delve into the bottom of the trunk to salvage those 78 rpm records that constituted the true era of Spanish pop during the decades of the 20's, 30's and 40's last century.
In a parrallel line of vinyl research, Melodías Pizarras does the same with the popular music of our sister continent, by retrieving rumbas, congas, ballads and dance tunes with a unique frenzy.
But since the clapper-loader does not live off Spanish songs alone, Hermanos Pizarro also places the best musical selection from the five continents at your fingertips. from the first decade to the fifties.
Concert: ECSTATIC SUNSHINE
Following the publication of his album Yesterday´s Work in November of 2009, Matthew Papich continues his eloquent and evocative work in which the guitars constitute the absolute protagonists: echoes of dub, punk, ambient or techno are all present in a music replete with a highly addictive delicacy and wealth.
Concert: AIR WAVES
When Dan Deacon was asked what his favorite new band was, he answered Air Waves: “The music Nicole writes is like having your favorite blanket wrapped around you”. From Brooklyn, this trio has published one Ep and one single, and are somewhere between pop, folk, country and punk... all in classic forms. Perfect melodies and simple songs, between Neil Young and Velvet Underground. In their short history, they have already had time to share the stage with Cat Power, Songs: Ohio, Beach House, Dan Deacon or The Rapture.
