celLuLoid: FILM & WORKSHOP
In this activity, children aged 6 to 12 years accompanied by adults will be able to enjoy films which are not available within the regular distribution channels or are not usually broadcast on television. After the screening of a selection of animated short films, art-house films and videos, a film workshop without camera will take place, directed by Alberto Vázquez.
The films screened are a selection of works by authors like Jonas Mekas, Abbas Kiarostami or Norman Mclaren. They all represent a personal vision of the audiovisual medium by creating stories told from other perspectives, rhythms and narration styles. These videos are combined with contemporary animated films. After the screening, both children and adults will create an experimental movie by intervening on a 16 mm film in different ways: painting, erasing, scratching… so that a new story will see the light of day. The film will be edited and screened at the end of the session to enable the participants to contemplate their own creation and get to know the methods of the pre-digital era.
This workshop has been designed in collaboration with Alberto Vázquez, audiovisual creator and founder of the association Espacio Rojo.
Aimed at families with children AGED 6-12 years.
