INVISIBILITY, NOISE AND THE BODY
CONTEMPORARY ART RESOURCES FOR WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE
(IN COLLABORATION WITH THE PUBLIC SCHOOL FOR YOUTH EDUCATION AND ACTIVITIES)
23 & 25 October workshop with Aitana Cordero
30 October and 6 November workshop with Nilo Gallego
8 & 13 November Leonor Serrano Rivas
The team at CA2M’s Education Department works alongside various artists and collectives with a view to building bridges and ongoing relationships with other educational organisations and projects in the Region of Madrid. In this case, thanks to cooperation with the Escuela Pública de Animación y Educación Juvenil (Public School for Youth Education and Activities), we wish to bring together the creative practices of three different artists and a series of people working with education in leisure and free-time activities in conjunction with various social initiatives, bodies and municipalities.
The practice of the artist Aitana Cordero will afford participants a chance to rethink intimacy as dance and movements that induce encounters with other people. The workshop will bring into play the creative capacity of affects and social relations, while at once reconsidering their limits and how to turn the group into a possible family.
In turn, the musician Nilo Gallego will base his workshop on active listening as a creative engine, using silence as an essential element to arrive at the unknown and to produce a thundering noise.
Meanwhile, Leonor Serrano will focus on Querer parecer noche, the contemporary art exhibition being held at CA2M throughout the duration of the course. The artist, whose work is also included in the exhibition, will explore different walkthroughs of the show and the questions the works pose to audiences.
This educational activity is conceived as a kind of research laboratory into expressive resources and forms which can be applied within the participants’ working environments.
In other words, we will practice, play with and analyse various processes we can establish with groups.
